One of the first books I bought when I started with the paleo diet was the Paleohacks Cookbook. The authors website starts with a series of warnings that most people starting the paleo diet will fail and while this put me off a little to start with, as I continued to read further the book itself appealed to me a lot. The website states that a lot of people starting the paleo diet fail because they get bored of eating the same foods. What a lot of people fail to see is the true potential the diet has if you put some effort into thinking of all the possible recipes. It seemed to me that the creators of the book knew exactly what my struggles would be. The fact is, I knew very well what the benefits of the paleo diet would be, but I was worried that I would have a hard time with what I assumed would be a lack of variety of food.
This book counters this struggle with over 125 beautiful looking recipes. When I received the book I was immediately really pleased with the value for money. I had a browse through the cookbook, and saw many recipes that not only looked appetizing, they also looked like they were relatively easy to cook. As someone who doesn’t generally allow herself a lot of time to cook, this was perfect for me!
All recipes have a good ingredients list, step-by-step directions and contain images of the dish you’ll be creating. I simply can’t stress enough how beautiful most of the dishes look, and most recipes have a preparation & cook time of under 45 minutes.
To my surprise when I decided to purchase the Paleohacks Cookbook from their website, I got a whole package of other books included (worth $135):
- The PaleoHacks 30-day Jumpstart
- The Paleo Foods and Fails Guide
- The Eating Paleo at Restaurants Guide
- The Paleo 4x Cookbook
- One-Month Paleo Meal Plan
Really, when you break it down, that’s 4 proper books, and two elaborate guides!
Recipes I Tried:
- Duck with Sweet Rhubarb
- Paleo Shepherd’s Pie
- Bacon Wrapped Chicken Tenders
- Papaya Boat with Zesty Honey Lime Dressing
- Chicken Tacos with Strawberry Avocado Garnish
- No-Bake Chocolate Protein Cake
Cooking From The Paleohacks Cookbook:
All recipes are 100% following the paleo guidelines. With no use of dairy products, additives, and starches at all many may wonder how many meal options you have left. However, all the recipes I’ve tried so far have been delicious and the variety in meals has been a lot greater than what I was eating before I started using the book! I’ve had people stay for dinner at my house and tried them out on some of the recipes found inside the book. My friends, who are not paleo enthusiasts by any means, still loved the food. If that isn’t showing the quality of the recipes, I don’t know what is!
The Paleohacks Cookbook makes sure that eating a smaller pool of ingredients doesn’t get boring. Recipes are available for a wide variety of meals including, breakfasts, lunches, dinners and even snacks.
What Could Be Better:
I don’t have a lot to grumble when it comes to the Paleohacks Cookbook. The recipes are mouthwatering and very original. I’ve not found any recipes that I’ve seen anywhere before, which is a great strength of this book. The only thing I would remark is that the recipes could be slightly better categorised.
Overall, the Paleohacks Cookbook was one of the best buys I’ve made while I was on my paleo diet. At the moment of writing the Paleohacks Cookbook + the 5 bonus books cost only $15 though the usual price is $50. I recommend this series of books to everyone. They were the driving force behind my success on the paleo diet, and made me feel like it wasn’t much of a diet at all! Check out the Paleohacks Cookbook website by clicking the button below.
